My husband and I really enjoyed the church tour of Charleston during the Spoleto Festival last May (2013). Carol’s knowledge of Charleston’s history and her churches was so extensive, and presented in such a clear and entertaining way. We saw so many beautiful churches and had a pleasant walk at the same time. We recommend Carol’s tour highly and are hoping to come on another tour in our next visit.
Carol not only shows with grace the splendid views, but instructs any attendee with historical information that enlarges the vision because of its powerful impact. Her tours are jewels of comprehensive cultural presentation. I am a world travelled individual and the quality of her explanations is simply, outstanding.
The Civil War Tour was very interesting and enjoyable. I never liked history in school, but when you visit Charleston…it almost feels like you get to live it, with all the historic places where different things happened. Carol is a wonderful, knowledgable tour guide. This is definitely not a boring tour.
If you take only one tour in the Holy City, this should be the one! Carol’s tour is the perfect way to learn about the extraordinary history of Charleston’s churches, particularly their beautiful stained glass windows. Don’t miss this very special view of historic Charleston.
Having recently moved to Folly Beach, I was looking forward to a tour of the Charleston Churches during Spoleto 2014. Carol was exceptionally knowledgeable and professional. She easily answered questions about the churches as well as about Charleston history. She is also an accomplished artist and well informed about the city’s architecture. I would highly recommend this enjoyable tour!
As a frequent organizer of Carol’s tours in Charleston for both large groups and small family outings, I can emphatically say they are great. The depth of historical knowledge that she brings is amazing. And the variety of topics offered will satisfy just about anyone interested in low country history. They are not only educational, but good fun as well.
Each year (for the last five) I have taken a tour with Carol. Her tours are engaging, informative and delightful. I love history and she has taught me things I never knew. I would recommend her tours to anyone looking to learn from and see one of the true “Jewels of the South”.
My grandson and I went on the Church Tour of Charleston this summer, and we enjoyed it so much. I have always wanted to go in some of the churches and the tour made that possible, as well as giving so much information about each.
I went on the tour with my grandmother and liked it very much.
